Fish Creek Provincial Park
Fish Creek Provincial Park is Canada's largest urban park. The park stretches 19 kilometres from northeast to west, named for the creek that runs through it and empties into the Bow River. This park encompasses 1,348 hectares (3, 331 acres) of grasslands, wetlands, shrub lands, coniferous and deciduous forests. It also has 46 kilometres of red shale and paved pathways, making it a favourite spot for urban hiking and cycling.
The park also contains a man make lake for swimming (Sikome Lake), interpretive facilities, and safe fire pits for picnics. The park is a sanctuary for many species of wildlife, including a protected great blue heron nesting area.
