About Calgary Economic Development Calgary Economic Development is the on-the-ground organization responsible for initiating business development activities in the community and supporting the business development activities of other economic development organizations in the Calgary region.
By offering business attraction services, industry development programs, marketing and economic information, Calgary Economic Development works to ensure Calgary continues to be recognized globally as a location of choice for developing and attracting prosperous businesses. This pursuit supports the vision of Calgary City Council, “to create and sustain a vibrant, healthy, safe and caring community.”
Calgary Economic Development recognizes the value of community partnerships. It serves its clients directly and by drawing on the networks, competitive intelligence and industry expertise of other organizations in the community involved in economic development activities.
Administered by a City Council-appointed board of directors representing the business community, Calgary Economic Development receives its core funding from The City of Calgary with additional operating and project funding from other governments and the private sector.
Calgary Economic Development is in transition and over the next year is focused on building relationships with community partners and building its staff complement to support its goals. |
