C-Prosperity
C·Prosperity! C·Prosperity is Calgary Economic Development’s (CED) business retention program. It is an industry cluster economic development program designed to ensure Calgary businesses continue to be successful in the Calgary region.
C·Prosperity brings together government, business and community leaders to assess our economy and develop action plans that move our region forward -- ensuring we strengthen global competitiveness in the Calgary region while protecting its quality of life.
Below is some information to help you understand C·Prosperity and what it means to you and the Calgary Region.
C·Prosperity background In June 2001, Calgary Economic Development embarked upon a course of economic development to greatly benefit the Calgary region.
The Calgary Region is approaching one million people, and is among Canada's leaders in population and economic growth. Strategic action now can provide sustainable prosperity long into the future.
A "smaller" world is changing the face of competitive dynamics. Regions are now the winners and losers in today's world as they develop differentially. Individual firms can no longer ensure prosperity in a region.
The economic development action Calgary Economic Development had in mind did not involve giving grants or targeting individual companies - it's economic development built around industries. Academics have a name for this type of business development called 'clusters.'
We call it C·Prosperity!
