Business in Calgary

Oil and Gas

Since the discovery of oil and gas in the Turner Valley area, just south of the city, Calgary has become known as The Energy Capital of Canada. This recognition is due, in large part to the fact that the majority of Canada’s oil and gas producers are headquartered in Calgary. As a result, the city has a large concentration of expertise in oil and gas technologies, petrochemical engineering construction, natural gas compression and heavy oil development and engineering.

Calgary is also home to a large portion of Canada’s energy service industry, including engineering, geological and data processing.

The Oil & Gas industry in Calgary is a highly competitive, capital-intensive industry. As such, it demands high quality, fast service from its own industry and from the companies that serve to supply it. These high standards have helped ensure Calgary businesses offer exceptional products and prompt service.
