Community
Strategy
After a year of extensive research, input and consultation from
a wide range of stakeholders, Calgary Inc. has released its Community
Strategy for Sustainable Prosperity.
Calgary's Community Strategy for Sustainable Prosperity
is innovative and bold. It offers a new approach to the way Calgary
develops, implements and evaluates its community and economic development
activities. It balances the need for economic prosperity with the
strong desire of Calgarians to maintain their high quality of life.
Calgary's Community Strategy for Sustainable Prosperity
is founded on eight community values that Calgarians told us they
wanted protected in the future. It fosters leadership and citizen
engagement, and expects a return on community values. "It is a sustainable
strategy that will not only secure Calgary's position as a great
city in which to live and do business, but it will connect us to
each other and to the world", states Mayor Al Duerr, Chairman of
Calgary Inc.
Calgary's Community Strategy for Sustainable Prosperity
outlines three priority directions:
- Global Competitiveness
Strategy: Connecting Calgary to the world
- Industry
Cluster Development Strategy: Connecting Calgary businesses to
each other
- Citizen Engagement
Strategy: Connecting Calgarians to each other and to their Community
As the lead
organization responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating
the Community Strategy for Sustainable Prosperity, Calgary Inc.
and its related authorities will be focusing their future efforts
towards achieving the objectives, strategies and outcomes that have
been outlined in the document.
Implementation
of the strategy will require a significant community response and
involve a number of key partners including residents, businesses
and government. "The response we have received to date has been
extremely positive. We look forward to engaging the community in
an even more significant way over the next few months as we begin
implementing the strategy", states Georgine Ulmer, President & CEO,
Calgary Inc.
