NORTH
AMERICAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT
(NAFTA)

Free
trade has opened up the international market, both for Calgary
businesses selling internationally and international businesses
entering into the Canadian market.
Calgary's
location, along with traditional ties developed by the oil
and gas industries, has facilitated the development of new
markets in Western Canada and the Western United States.
But our markets don't stop there. Calgary businesses have
enjoyed enhanced market access in a number of regions including
South America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The growth
in Asia-Pacific market activity can be attributed in part
to the city's proactive business community and the excellent
intermodal system linking Calgary to Pacific Coast Ports.
Approximately 60% of Alberta exports originate from Calgary.
Calgary
companies are ready, experienced and able to expand their
products and services into new international markets.
