LOCATION

Calgary's
location is well situated both for international business
and for travel. It is strategically positioned to serve
both the NAFTA and Asia-Pacific marketplaces. The city serves
as the transportation hub for both the North-South and East-West
rail and highway systems, as well as many international
airline destinations. Flights are frequent and accessible
and many are direct. To facilitate growth in air services,
there have been many major upgrades and expansion activities
at the Calgary International Airport. Passenger growth exceeding
60% over the past five years has driven the need for the
$400 million expansion and improvement plan at Canada's
fourth busiest airport.
Calgary
is also part of a major trucking route, allowing easy access
to transportation by businesses needing to ship product.
Distribution to the U.S., Mexico and eastern Canada is exceptional,
and international shipments by sea are easily funneled through
Montreal, Vancouver and Seattle. Technological advancements
in equipment used to transport goods makes transport safer
and more cost effective.
