Tourism
As one of the city’s major employers, the tourism industry in Calgary
represents a major opportunity for economic development in Calgary.
Calgary is an excellent location for conventions, meetings, trade
and consumer shows, where participants can experience the excitement
and diversity of big city life without the worry of big city problems.
Tourism will generate new investment, construction and demand for
diverse community facilities in the years ahead.
The city offers a wide range of facilities including the newly
expanded downtown Telus Convention Centre and Round-Up Centre, the
Metropolitan Centre , hotel meeting and convention space, as well
as the facilities at the University of Calgary. Strong growth in
this area is expected over the next few years as more conventions
and meetings are brought to these brand new state of the art facilities.
In addition to conventions and meetings, Calgary’s world class
tourism, arts, recreational, cultural and sports facilities contribute
to a vibrant, dynamic tourism industry in Calgary.
